Beginning Band at the end of 5th Grade
The Hudson instrumental music department requires two years of piano lessons prior to testing for percussion in the beginning band. Although a student has attained the required years of piano lessons, this does NOT guarantee their placement as a percussionist. Each year 10 students will be selected from those who were tested. The test is based on individual written examples and rhythmic coordination. Note: Students who are not selected to be a percussionist are eligible and highly encouraged to play one of many other wind instruments that are offered. A list of area piano teachers can be provided to you by one of the Hudson Band directors by emailing:
